Camera Cars Surprise Commissioner
Alberta's Information and Privacy Commissioner has expressed surprise that Google Street View camera cars were in Edmonton last week, reports the Edmonton Sun.
Commissioner Frank Work and other provincial and federal privacy commissioners have been in talks with the company about the rollout of its Canadian-based Street View feature, which provides 360-degree views of cities' streets and public areas.
Work said his understanding was that Google would not act further on the feature until the talks surrounding privacy had concluded. "And now I find that they're acting. Either I've misunderstood them or they've decided to disregard us," Work said.
